Alice Harpel, Ed.D. - Watermedia Artist

Alice Harpel is a watermedia artist residing in Crawfordsville, IN. She has recently retired from the Indiana Department of Education and has carved a second career in art. She is a self-taught artist, specializing in acrylic and watercolor floral paintings and contemporary Indiana landscapes.

"My subject matter originates from my original photographs and from my plein air painting experiences. I paint primarily in acrylics where I often use other elements, such as collage paper and gloss medium, to achieve the desired colors and textures in my artwork. When people view my work, I want them to enjoy my use of vibrant color and texture to represent floral compositions and the Midwestern landscape."
